The School of American Ballet was the site of most of my professional learning over the past two years. It has been the site where theory has become practice for me. William Perry’s theory of intellectual and ethical development is the foundation of my after-school programming. Working with student leaders has made me question the everyday implications of leadership theories. Seeing students through a phase of their life where they are deciding between jobs and college, and on the precipice of massive life change, is a privilege. My theory-heavy career counseling class came into those conversations as well. I will always treasure the time I spent here.
